Update 8/4/202 - Lyall Payne (Bletchley Hall Afghan Hounds, NZ) an avid breed researcher has kindly provided us with some additional information about Begum's owner -

Philip A Conne was a founder of Saks clothing, An ad man he convinced the Saks family to start up a mega store in NY – first one and it all went uphill from there. Died in France – was ill in final year and went to Europe to live (was Hungarian originally) – married again in that last year. Body returned to US for interment. Had a medical science innovation award given out in his memory as late as the mid 50s despite his dying in 1927. Member of the ‘Free & Accepted Masons) (Masonic Lodge). He had homes in Illinois and Manhattan (just as one of the early writers stated) – besides he was the only Philip A (Adelhard) Conne in US history !! Died in Biarritz.
