On this page we detail various seasonal greeting cards from the 30's/40's as sent to AKC judge Leon J. Iriberry from various famous Afghan Hound kennels and owners
Leon J. Iriberry was an active leader of the AKC community in the 1920's - 1940's. While he bred champion Fox Terriers and penned articles in various publications, he was most famous for his prestigious position as an AKC judge. In 1933 he awarded the very first American Kennel club points to the Great Pyrenees breed, as well as milestones in other breed categories.The unique aspect of this group of memorabilia is that these cards spared no expense as they were often custom printed, usually with a handsome photo of a champion which in some cases were commissioned by famous photographers like Tauskey. There are even artists renderings - drawn and handpainted!
