Gypsy Rose Lee had a younger sister "June Havoc" who was also a dancer (but not Burlesque). June Havoc owned a male Afghan hound named Zimiri of Elcoza. So maybe the Afghan with Gypsy Rose Lee is her sisters Afghan hound Zimiri Of Elcoza?
