 Chaman Afghan Hounds UK Page 9 (By Steve Tillotson October 2013) Earlier on page 6 we talked about Molly Sharpe Judging. Now we'll have a little look at Molly exhibiting. Well we don't actually have a lot of photo's of Molly exhibiting, you have seen some vintage ones earlier where she is with her hounds at a show but not actually exhibiting. What we do have are some photos of Mollys "handler" exhibiting her hounds. We have a mystery to solve too, please help if you can. All we know is that Mollys handler was named "Hank". This information was provided to me by the late Ms Eileen Snelling (Khorrassan) who also provided me with valuable photographs of Molly which are included in this article. Here's the first photo of "Hank" handling, the photo was taken at Leicester Championship Show UK in the early 1950's. Ms Snelling is the Judge, Hank is on the left and we think Hank might be handling Ch Taj Akmed Of Chaman, Mrs Franks (Stonesby UK), (possibly exhibiting Stonesby Asmara Of Khorrassan) is on the right. ***Our thanks to June Leitch who informs us "Hank" was "Hank Heron" from the USA who handled for Molly when he was visiting the UK. We will do some more research and see if we can find more info on Hank Heron. Thanks to June for her info).
The next photograph, also taken in the early 1950's shows Hank handling (Taj Akmed Of Chaman?), Ida Morton (Netheroyd UK) is the Judge, Eileen Snelling handling her Ch Nanda Devi Of Khorrassan
We have a set of two photo next, apparently showing the same dogs/people. Can read the word "Birmingham" on the vendor tent behind Eileen, so presumably this was a Championship Show in that area in the early 50's. Photo shows Hank handling a Chaman hound, Judge is Tom Scott, Eileen Snelling handling her Ch Circe Of Khorrassan. Must have been a cold day because Eileen was wearing a fur coat!
