The Daxlore contribution to Salukis has also been considerable in many other countries of the world, with Australia having many of Mrs Skelton-Fortune's best dogs and bitches. Mr MacKenzie-Begg of New South Wales had seven, all of whom became champions, the first being Wildbee Idle Acres of Daxlore, a daugher of Wildrose. Miss Erin Brown in Australia also had a bitch from the litter, Wildrain of Daxlore, who also became a Champion.
In the mid 1960's the American, Dr Lucas imported a number of Salukis, dogs from which he bred several International Champions. A couple even got CD awards in obedience - I would have thought no mean feat for a Saluki! The first of these was International and American Champion Srinager Sandhya of Daxlore CD, a daughter of Beth of Daxlore, who was from one of the Marathon/Rebecca matings. Other Daxlores went to other owners in America and were equally successful.
There have also been successful exports to Scandinavia, for example the two litter sisters to Skybelle, Skynyrnph of Daxlore to Finland and Skylark of Daxlore to Sweden; both became International Champions. In Denmark the Stensedal kennels imported five from Daxlore.
Other exports worldwide have in cluded Fanfare of Daxlore, who became an Indian Champion; Seasprite of Daxlore, who became both a Hong Kong and a Portuguese champion; Firesmoke of Daxlore, who became a German Champion; Northriding of Daxlore, who became a Greek Champion; and Northstar of Daxlore, who became an African Champion. Also, from the same litter as Northriding and Northstar, which was by Alexis out of Flicka of Daxlore (who in turn was out of Candida), was an American Champion and a Finnish Champion.
During the mid 1960's a high proportion of the Daxlores being bred were going overseas, with one entire litter from Flicka being exported to two owners in America.
LIMB AND TEMPERAMENT
The Daxlore type was also admired in the Middle East. In 1963 Shaikh Abdulla Bin Essa Alkhalifa of Bahrain had Karina of Daxlore, a granddaughter of Candida. In 1980 the ruler of Abu Dhabi had three from a litter by Star Appeal of Daxlore, a son of Skybelle, out of Rosemary of Daxlore, a granddaughter of Wildrose. In Abu Dhabi they lived a life of luxury as pets in the Royal Palace, with the occasional coursing trip into the desert. A year later the Chief of Police in Oman had a daughter of Starbelle and Mr Shibeka in the Sudan had a dog from a repeat mating which had produced the Ruler of Abu Dhabi's three.
