Hobart-Owned Dog Makes marked Advance
UMBRA SINGH OF KANDAHAR
The first Afghan hound imported to Tasmania, has furnished splendidly during the six months he has been in Hobart, and as the picture which accompanies these notes shows, he bids fair to develop Into an outstanding specimen. Umbra Singh of Kandahar was purchased in Melbourne by Mrs. Alfred Pedder, of Hobart, and his arrival In Hobart stimulated conside able interest among fanciers. When he arrived Umbra Singh was two months old, and in the interim he has made great advance. He found the warm Summer months distasteful, but the advent of colder weather has been more to his liking. Mrs. Pedder is full of praise for the many lovable qualities of her pet, and states that a more de- lightful breed could not be wished for. Umbra Singh, despite his characteristically long face; is full of fun and mischief, and his eyes fairly sparkle with amusement. Moreover, he ls exceedingly clever and intelligent. As far as is known Umbra Singh of Kandahar is tho only specimen of tho breed domiciled in Tasmania.
