Further info re the above photo from Lyall Payne - "Mikael, the young boy with the dog, was born in Surrey, England in 1934. His Australian-born parents spent two years in London where his father worked as a Fleet Street journalist. Baby Mikael and his mother sailed into Freemantle, West Australia on the “MS Parrakoola” on 16 August 1934. In 1963, Mikael graduated from the University of Sydney as a medical practitioner. He undertook his studies while living in the home his parents built that is today famously associated with the Danish-born architect responsible for the world-renown Sydney Opera House. Jorn Utzon signed his name in the cement patio during a party Mikael’s father threw on 10 August 1957, in honour of Utzon winning the design and to start off the fund-raising. In the Queen’s Birthday Honours of 2006, Mikael was awarded the OAM (Medal of the Order of Australia) for services to the community of Cobram, a town on the banks of the Murray River that forms the border between Victoria and New South Wales. He was not the first of his family to receive national recognition. His aunt was noted obstetrician Dame Ella Macknight and his grandfather, general organising secretary for the Australia 150th anniversary celebrations in 1938. Mikael is Dr Mikael Conway Richard Macdougall.. His parents imported, exhibited and bred the first Afghan hounds in Australia."
