An interesting breeding occured on 8/7/1945 involvng a litter sired by Obba of Cyann, the litter was co-bred by Marjorie Walker (Far Away) and Dr Gertrude Kinsey (Altoun). The pedigree for this litter is shown below

I find it interesting that two such established breeders as Marjorie Walker and Dr Kinsey should collaborate and co-breed a litter involving a half brother/half sister breeding back to Omar Of Fortworth. It is perhaps, an endorsement of the Cyann bloodlines and a recognition that they offered something different that worked successfully with Prides Hill foundations?

Cyann turns out to be quite a remarkable story - a small kennel that only bred 6 litters in 8 years but a kennel which produced some very important stud dogs that perpetuated their English bloodline foundations (Omar Of Fortworth and Sisi) and enabled others to inject some variety into the dominant Prides Hill bloodlines. In addition to the kennels breeding achievements.
Cy Rickel was a charter member of the AHCA, Vice President of the club for several years, a member of the breed standards committee, a judge who judged the national speciality three times, and he also bred the dog that won the first ever AHCA National speciality in 1940.
After closing his kennel Cyrus Rickel remained a dedicated advocate of the Afghan hound. In 1954 and again in 1965, he judged the Potomac Afghan Hound Specialty Show. In 1968, he judged the Afghan Hound Club of America Specialty Show. Becoming a multi-breed judge, he was much in demand for judging assignments because of his true evaluation of the dogs in the show ring.
