In 1938 Mrs Matchett imported from Molly Sharpe a black bitch, Manda Of Chaman (Pic's mother). Manda, who arrived in whelp to Tarick of Chaman, was born 6/28/35 and had the distinction of having two sires listed on her pedigree, Tetrarch of Cheltside or Westmill Fasano out of the bitch Rasti of Istalif ( a daughter of Eng Ch Sirdar Of Ghazni) Manda's offspring from this litter, whelped on 3/17/40, figured in the future of Canada's Afghan hounds. In June of 1940, Mary Matchett registered Manda with the AKC. two of the puppies were sent to the States; a red dog, Kurram El Myia, went to Frank Weithoff. After achieving his title in 1941, and producing a litter out of Kali Of Kuhsan, he was returned to Mary Matchett who finished him to his Canadian title. The other puppy was Khiva El Myia, a golden red bitch who went to Judith R Shearer (of the famous early Meander Whippet Kennels), where she whelped a litter sired by Black Rudbar. Mrs Matchett retained her all-time favourite from this litter, Ch Saranga El Myia. At this point, let me include a short note about Tarick Of Chaman. He had enjoyed a very successful show career in England, when he was killed during the blitz of World War II, before Molly Sharpe could move her dogs to the safety of Ireland for the duration of the war (Westmill Fasano was later imported and registered by the AKC)

Meanwhile, the kennels of Ku imported a black bitch, Kala of Chaman (a litter sister to Tarick of Chaman), from Molly Sharpe. Kala, born on 3/13/38 was sired by the Eng Ch Westmill Bayezid Ansari (Eng Ch Badshah Of Ainsdart before his exportation to the US x Elsa Of Ghazni out of Safiya (Eng Ch Ashna Of Ghazni/Eng Ch Alfreda). Westmill Bayezid Ansari was a litter brother to the previously mentioned Westmill Fasano. Mrs Fielden bred Kala of Chaman to the earlier mentioned Ramy, with the resulting litter born on 12/29/40. While this was Kala's only litter, her progeny proved to be very productive in both Canada and the USA. Her sons Kala's Nicobar of Ku and Kala's Sabu of Ku, and her daughter Kala's Simla of Ku remained in Canada; Kala's Karicha of Ku went to Sunny Shay (Grandeur Kennels) and produced two litters there. Kala's Sheba of Ku was sent to Elizabeth Ehelan (Pocono Kennels); Ku Mari Of Dellire went to Dr and Mrs Harry Marxmiller (Dellire Kennels) where she whelped two litters here. Kala of Chaman was eventually sold to Dr Gertrude F Kinsey (Altoun Kennel) of the USA

Kala of Chaman
Kala produced one litter of 8 for Ku kennels, yet her influence was considerable via her offspring. Kala was a breed winner but did not complete her title. She was sold to the USA (Dr Gertrude Kinsey, Altoun Afghan hounds). Dr Kinsey mated her with the famous Altoun stud Obba of Cyann which produced a litter in June 1943. The breeding was repeated and the second litter whelped in August 1944
