4. TYPICAL EARLY AMERICAN BREEDING
Shown below are the pedigrees of the two Afghans we have been discussiing (Indra and Rikki). As mentioned previously, Indra's pedigree is very typical of the early development of the breed in the USA. The pedigree involves a kennel (Kingway) starting out with stock from the East Coast Prides Hill Kennel. The Kingway lines are then bred back into an English import (Westmill Razuran), introducing fresh genes whilst consolidating the English ancestory. At the next generation this Kingway line is bred back into another English import (Garrymhor Zaberdast Of Arken) which is a more "blended" line from the UK as it contains ancestors from the third UK line of imports from Afghanistan via Ardmor Antony and Alfreda

The second pedigree (Rikki) is classic early Grandeur breeding, incorporating as it does the Canadian lnes of the El Myia Kennels. Also you will note that both Indra and Rukki's pedigrees contain lineage back to Prides Hill (USA), Garrymhor (UK) and the third import line into the UK Ardmor Antony behind the Garrymhor's

5 PRIZE RIBBONS 1940/50's.
As mentioned at the beginnng of this article, the packet came with two sets of prize ribbons. I don't know if they were intentionally sent to me and kept separate (each set was inside another document) so they could be related to each of the afghans, or whether it was just randomn how they were packaged. What I have just noticed (talk about the need to study "carefully"), is that one of the sets of ribbons has a piece of paper inserted in it with "Harri" written on of, and some of that set of ribbons also have words written on the back in pencil, eg "Harri 4-7-50" and "Harri 6-56", so it looks like that set relates to Harri Of Lujon. The other set is also marked on the back "Big Boy". Our speculation is that Grandeur Rikki Of Lujon is "Big Boy". Below are details of the ribbons
