HOW CAN EXHIBITORS IMPROVE AFGHAN HOUND JUDGING?
Joan Brearley
In addition to the more obvious ways that exhibitors can improve judging, such as not indulging in double-handling, baiting, arriving late for class, and grooming in the ring, the serious exhibitor should ask himself the following important questions:
1. Have I entered a dog that truly represents my idea of the Standard, and not just another dog from another litter?
2. Is my dog properly and sufficiently trained to compete in the ring so that the judge can make a fair and thorough appraisal
3. Am I supporting all breeder-judges that truly understand and have first-hand knowledge of the breed?
4, Am I being a good sport win or lose?
There are many others, of course, but if every exhibitor took these four ideas seriously there would be immense improvement At least I will settle for these for openers!
